Thelma Greathouse, age 89, of Thornville, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2010, at the Pickering House, Lancaster.
She was born on February 18, 1921, in Thornville, to the late Ivan C. and Cora M. (Shelly) Cooperrider. Thelma was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church, then started attending Grace Lutheran Church for over 70 years, while teaching Sunday School for over 60 years. She was a member of the Farm Bureau for Women, the Esther Ladies Circle, and a 4-H adviser for a number of years. Thelma was honored as the Perry County Homemaker of the Year. Thelma would have been married 70 years to Wilford this coming Christmas Eve.
Thelma is survived by her daughters, Lorraine (Larry) Hiles, Judy (Gary) Green and Linda (Gordon) Patterson; grandchildren, Lynn, Chris, Jon, Josh, Judith, Jennifer, Jamie and Phillip; 11 great grandchildren; one greatgreat grandchild; sister: Martha Anspach; brother Glenn (Lois) Cooperrider; and sisters-in-law, Julia Cooperrider and Beulah Cooperrider.
In addition to her parents; she is preceded in death by her husband, Wilford who passed away on September 3, 2010; brothers, Carl, Maurice, Lewis (Joanne), and Bobby Cooperrider; brother-inlaw, Lewis Anspach; sister-in-law, Helen Cooperrider; and grandchildren, Lora, Lee Scott, Melissa and Pam.
Funeral service for Mr. and Mrs. Greathouse was held September 8, 2010, at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Morlock and Reverend Robert Pflueger officiating. Burial followed at Fairmount Cemetery, Amsterdam.
