Thanks to Fishing Rodeo supporters

Editor,

The Ladies and Men’s Auxiliary of the VFW #1388 hosted a Kid’s Fishing Rodeo on Sat. Aug. 14th. All the children seemed to really enjoy their time fishing (along with the adults). It was a beautiful day and prizes were given away for the first fish caught, most fish caught, and biggest fish caught. These were in two categories, boys and girls.

I would like to thank Jeff Watson at the Millersport Valero for donating all the bait, The Millersport Hardware and Becky for donating prizes and tackle, The “chip guy” at the VFW for donating potato chips for everyone, Mike Cook for doing just about everything, Donny Harkins and Rick Vanoster for baiting hooks, Rudy Schmitt for measuring the fish, Linda Graves for keeping copious notes of the fish caught, Kenny Kramer for just being there, Martha, from Reynoldsburg, for donating backpacks for every child for back to school, and Max and Karen Souders for their moral support.

We will be even bigger and better next summer. This has to be an annual event for all the fun we had. All had hot dogs, chips, juice boxes, and water. No one took home any fish but they did all take home a backpack and some great prizes.

The Ladies Auxiliary will be serving breakfast on Labor Day at the Post. It is a special menu of ham and eggs for $5.00. It is open to the public. Please come out and support our efforts to raise monies for the many projects we have. We gave away over $5000 last year. We can’t give to the needy if we don’t make it before hand.

Lauralyn Palmer, Pres. Ladies Auxiliary of VFW #1388
