Ray A. Smith
Ray A. Smith, age 81 of Baltimore, passed on 8/5/2010, at Riverside Methodist Hospital Hospice following a severe stroke. He was born 9/6/1928, in Sabina, Ohio, to the late Londis and Lucy Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Patricia M. Smith; and infant daughter, Ann Leslie. He resided most of his life in Baltimore with retirement winters in Okeechobee, FL. He was a 1946 graduate of Carroll High School, a 29 year member of the Baltimore Masonic Lodge and former scoutmaster for Troop 187, Baltimore.
He was a retired master mechanic from Kal Kan Pet Foods. He loved tinkering in his garage, working on projects and playing cards. He is survived by his loving family; sons, Richard (Debbie) Smith of Baltimore, Thomas (Carol) Smith of Baltimore and Mark (Vicky) Smith of Pleasantville; grandchildren, Jarrod (Jennifer) Smith of Reynoldsburg, Jill (Jeremy) Hill of Reynoldsburg, Ginger (Robert) Phipps of Univeral Place Washington, Alan Smith of Baltimore, Brandy (Zebadiah) Wilkes of Lancaster, Heather Brown (Brock Mokas), and Paul McGill; great grandchildren, Dominic Smith, Kaitlyn Hill, Jordan Hill, Isabella Smith, Jaidon Mokas, and Tristin Mokas; brother, Chuck (Mary) Smith; sisters, Mary Stewart and Betty (Eddie) DuPois; and nephews, nieces, and many lifelong friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Boyd Rodney Smith, George Willard Smith, Arthur Franklin Smith, and Claris Ann Smith. A celebration of his life (per his instructions) will be held at 3 p.m. on August 22, 2010, at Fisher/Smith homestead; call 740-503-3343 for directions.
