Big Band concert set for Sunday, Aug. 15
BUCKEYE LAKE – The Rick Brunetto “Big Band’ closes out the Buckeye Lake Museum Concert Series from 3 - 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 15 at historic Picnic Point at the North Shore Boat Ramp.
Brunetto’s band brings back the memories of the great big bands that appeared at Buckeye Lake in the Crystal Ballroom. Proceeds benefit the Buckeye Lake Museum.
“Bringing back the memories, keeps them alive and that helps our museum to prosper,” said Museum Director J-me Braig.
This Sunday concert will whisk you back to a gentler time when Buckeye Lake was truly Ohio’s play ground. Dancing is encouraged.
Picnic lunches are available. Advance admission is $10 per person and $15 with meal. At the gate, admission is $10 and $17 with meal.
There will be nostalgic games such has the milk can toss game plus salt water taffy and peanuts as were sold during the big band heyday. The box chicken picnicfrom Lee’s Famous Recipe will begins at 3:00 p.m. and the Big Band performs from 4:00 to 6:00. Boat rides will be available on the Queen of the Lake II. Guests should bring their lawn chairs or blankets for this trip down memory lane on the site o the old Crystal Ballroom.
The Rick Brunetto “Big Band’ has been a staple in central Ohio. Band leader Rick Brunetto said, “We wanted to put on an event that we have envisioned for several summers. We hope this 2nd Annual Picnic Point concert will help bring people to Buckeye Lake, assist the economy of local businesses and fulfill the enchanted thought of the return of Big Bands to Buckeye Lake. As we recreate this time period and some perhaps forgotten memories of the actual crowd that grew up in this era, we hope to create new memories for a younger generation.”
