Barracudas get first championship

MILLERSPORT – The Millersport Barracudas won Division III at the 2010 Tri-County Aquatics League Championship meet in Canal Winchester.

It was the first championship for the four-year-old and smallest team in the league. More than 1,200 swimmers from 13 local teams participate in the Tri- County League each summer. The Barracudas took just 38 swimmers to the meet but they and coaches Kelly and Brian Doner pulled off the win.

Luke Hoover took 2nd place in the 9-10 age group 25 meter breaststroke. Shaffer Tiedtke took 5th place 11-12 age group 100 meter IM, 2nd place in the 50 meter backstroke, and 3rd in the 50 meter breaststroke. Matthew Doner took 1st place in the 50 meter freestyle, 50 meter breaststroke, and 50 meter butterfly. Wyatt Henderson took 1st in the 13-14 age group 50 meter freestyle, 50 meter breaststroke, and 50 meter butterfly. Grace Hoover took 2nd in the 11-12 age group 50 meter backstroke, 100 meter IM, and 50 meter butterfly. Danielle Doner took 6th place in the 13-14 age group 50 backstroke. Emily Aneshansley placed 6th in the 11-12 100 meter IM, 4th place in the 50 meter freestyle, and 5th place in the 50 meter breaststroke.
