Doris J. Birtcher
A funeral service for Doris J. Birtcher, age 85, of Buckeye Lake, was held on July 31, 2010, at the Heath Chapel of Henderson Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service with Rev. John Minihan officiating.
Mrs. Birtcher died Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at the Newark Healthcare Centre. She was born February 4, 1925 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to the late Ira Chester and Irene S. (Moses) Brumfield.
Mrs. Birtcher was employed with Morehouse Fashion as a model for several years. After the bombing at Pearl Harbor while the sunken ships were being raised, she took a job with the U.S. Government and was stationed in Hawaii as a stenographer. She returned to Ohio and married Charles E. Birtcher in 1946. The family moved to Buckeye Lake in 1957. Mrs. Birtcher had also had been employed at the 70/37 Truck Stop for several years as a cashier. She had been a Cub Scout den mother and was very loyal to her family, caring for her parents in their later years. She enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by two sons, Charles R. (Karen) Birtcher of Mount Perry and Michael (Cindy) Birtcher of Newark; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Joann Hayslap of Portsmouth; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, on July 2, 2001.
