Douglas James Van Sky
A memorial service, to celebrate the life of Douglas James Van Sky, 71, of Buckeye Lake, was held Wednesday, July 14, 2010, . in The First Community Church, Buckeye Lake, with Pastor John Wick as celebrant.
Doug died Sunday morning, July 11, 2010, in Columbus, following an extended illness. He was born in Columbus, on September 23, 1938, the son of the late Stanley James Van Sky and Mar Irwin (Fullen) Fisher.
He was retired from the John Deere Company, and had worked recently for Classic Stone and USA Supply Company.
Doug loved fishing (especially at Dawes Arboretum), OSU football, reading a good book, traveling to Myrtle Beach, and morning coffee with his buddies in Buckeye Lake. He was a member of First Community Church, Buckeye Lake.
He is survived by his loving family, his wife Pam, whom he married on June 4, 1966; his children, Randy (Jerri) of Grove City, James (Jennifer) of Arlington, WA., and Chris (Tina) of Hebron; his sister, Nancy Fisher of Millersport; his grandchildren, Katie (Jason) Dameron, Erica, Samantha & Courtney Van Sky; his great-granddaughter, Rachel O’Reilly; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan, in 1996. Honoring Doug’s wishes, no visitation was held.
