Dawes Arboretum - Ohio 13, three miles north of I-70.

Ohio Mushroom Society Mini- Foray- Saturday, July 10 or September 25, 9 a.m. – noon, Meet on Visitors Center deck. Come join several members of the Ohio Mushroom Society and take a leisurely walk through wooded areas of Dawes Arboretum looking for fleshy fungi. Participants will collect specimen finds and return to a collection point to share and discuss collections. Estimated time, two hours. Wear walking shoes or boots and bring rain gear if the weather looks threatening. Make sure to bring a small basket or paper sack for carrying your collections.

The grounds are open from dawn to dusk. The Visitors Center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays and holidays. Call 740-323-2355 or 800-44- DAWES for information or visit www.dawesarb.org.

Lake Tours - Buckeye Lake. See historic Buckeye Lake by boat. Take a ride on the Greater Buckeye Lake Historical Society’s Queen of the Lake II. The 40-passenger boat cruises every Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. from May to October. Board at the Buckeye Lake State Park’s North Shore Ramp just off Ohio 79 in the Village of Buckeye Lake. 5th Annual Outville Power Show and Pull - Outville. It’s competition tractor pulls plus tug and garden tractor classes July 9- 11. three miles north of U.S. 40. $3 admission for 12 and older. Under 12 free.

River Front Roar Power Boat Races - Marietta. Powerboat Superleague tunnel boats return to the Ohio River July 10-11. Heat races are from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday. Final races are from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday. This is the same league that used to hold a race on Buckeye Lake. For more information visit www.mariettariverfrontroar. org.

Ice Cream Social - Buckeye Lake. Buckeye Lake Community Celebration Committee presents its Second Annual Ice Cream Social from 3 - 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 17 at the Buckeye Lake Museum on Ohio 79. Join the fun with games like ring toss, fish pond, ball toss and carnival spinner; face painting; 50:50 drawing; a variety of ice cream plus hot dogs, chips, popcorn and drinks; and the Sweet Adelline Singers. Free admission to the social and museum.

Music in the Courtyard- The Works, Newark. The Works: Museum of History, Art and Technology hosts its second Music In The Courtyard free summer concert on Friday, July 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the LeFevre Courtyard. Enjoy a great afternoon of summer entertainment with live music, food and fun activities. This afternoon event is perfect for kids and adults of all ages. Knot Fibb’n, a Columbus band whose musical sounds are Celtic with a kick, will perform. Knot Fibb’n has entertained thousands of fans across America with a blend of high-energy performances and unique sounds that leave audiences foot-tapping, hand-clapping and exhilarated! Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic lunch or purchase one of the delicious $5 meals provided by The Grill At The Works. Guests should also remember to bring chairs and/or blankets for the afternoon’s festivities. Central Ohio Bluegrass Association Annual Festival - Croton. The annual festival returns to the spacious Hartford Fair grounds July 8 - 10. Northwest Territory, Death By Banjo, and Rick Sharp and Lonesome Ride headline the list of performers. Opening night features Frosty Morning and Caney Creek, both popular Licking County bands sure to please fanciers of traditional and old time mountain music. Other bands making up this years talent are Faces Made For Radio and Copus Hill both from the Mansfield area. Rounding out the show are Sterling Bluegrass, Ragged Ridge, Country Grass, Blackwater Run all popular bands from Ohio. A total of 350 camping spaces are available.
