Deborah Yvonne Thornsley
Deborah Yvonne Thornsley, 54, passed away at her home in Buckeye Lake, on June 16, 2010. She was born February 15, 1956, to the late Donald Lee and Betty (Martin) Thornsley. Debbie worked for Sears for 11 years before losing her sight. She cared for her grandma, Nina; mom; and dad before they passed away.
She lived in Columbus until 1999 when she moved to Buckeye Lake to be with her sister. Her nephew, Jayson and niece, Sierra were her world. She was a wonderful sister, aunt and friend to all. She crocheted beautiful blankets though she was blind. She was a 10 year cancer survivor. She loved the holidays, dining out, shopping, yard sales and going to the zoo. She was a born again Christian and is in heaven with the Lord Jesus now.
Debbie is survived by her sister, Victoria (Gregg) Thomas; brother, Don (Linda) Thornsley; nieces, Angela (Jay) Kenney, Sierra Preston and Renee; nephews, Jayson, Aaron Thomas and his girlfriend Bev and her kids, and Darren; aunts and uncles; cousins; best friend, Chris; special friend, Nita; and numerous other friends.
Funeral services were held for Debbie on June 18, 2010 at the Long Funeral home in Columbus. Burial was at Blendon Central Cemetery in Westerville.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Interim Healthcare, L.E.A.D.S., Licking County Transit, food pantries, churches, her Thursday Weight Watcher class, and all others who made it possible for her to stay in her home and live a good life. Special thanks to her friends and neighbors of Leisure Village and others who helped her out and watched over her.
