Clifford “Sam” Dale Bashore
Clifford “Sam” Dale Bashore, age 80 of Thornville, passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at his home.
He was born on February 15, 1930, in Somerset, one of five children to the late Lyman and Gertrude (Gilmore) Bashore. Clifford graduated from Thornville High School in 1947. He worked for the Shelly Company from 1948-1950 and then joined the US Air Force in January of 1951. He proudly served his country as a cryptographic operator during the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge in December 1954. Since his retirement from Western Electric in 1985, Cliff spent most of his time fishing at Buckeye Lake, grilling with his family and on the porch swing with his puppy, Maggie.
Clifford is survived by his three children, Wanda (Steve) Krupp of Newark, Wyatt Bashore of Thornville and Tammie Brown of Millersport; 8 grandchildren, Adrienne (Sandeep) Mehta, Tanner Krupp, Grant Krupp, Angela (Chad) Sheets, Kaitlyn (fiance Matt) Bashore, Dale (fiance Heather) Bashore, Travis Brown and Ben Brown; great granddaughter, Scarlett Sheets; brother, Earl (JeanAnn) Bashore; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Gladys Peterson; and brothers, Walter and Gene Bashore.
A Celebration of Life service for Clifford Dale Bashore will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at the Zion Reformed UCC in Thornville, with Pastor Dr. Herbert Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at the Zion Ridge Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the AMVETS Post #51 Color Guard. A reception will be held at the church for family and friends following the gravesite service.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010, at the Boring Sheridan Funeral Home, 56 S. Main St., Thornville, and Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Zion Reformed UCC.
