Douglas B. “Doug” Rife
Douglas B. “Doug” Rife, age 88, a resident of Dublin Retirement Village, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at Mt. Carmel West Hospital with his family by his side. Doug was born to the late Roy and Mae (Wolfenbarger) Rife in Middleport, OH on December 28, 1921. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth (Grover) Rife; children, Judy (Patrick) Rhodes, Rick (Rhonda) Rife, and Karen (Doug) Eighmey; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Doug served in the US Army in WWII as an airborne jump instructor with the 82nd Airborne Div. He started his residential real estate career as a salesman in 1950 and in 1960 started the Doug Rife Real Estate Co. on Sullivant Avenue. For 49 years, he had a distinguished career as a real estate broker, one known for his honesty and his attention to detail. He was a career long member of the Columbus Board of Realtors. Away from his real estate business, he found enjoyment playing poker, playing bridge, and always looked forward to his many trips with Elizabeth to Las Vegas and more recently to Belterra Casino. A celebration of Doug’s life will be held with a visitation 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 18 and a funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19 at SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL 3030 W.
