Help start a new tradition

Summer at Buckeye Lake is a really special that hosts lots of traditions - picnics, boating, swimming, reunions and our wonderful 4th of July celebration to name a few. The Friends of Buckeye Lake Library hope that Buckeye Lake can handle yet one more tradition and that is an annual 5K walk along the Ohio Canal. Our very first in what we hope is an annual event, will be held on June 26 at 9 a.m. It will cost you $25, but the money is a contribution to the Buckeye Lake Library. All donations help pay for the costs of operating our library.

We have asked Buckeye Lake area local businesses to sponsor our event and to date, 16 have generously agreed to help us out. They are: Alexander’s Landing (Millersport), Pizza Cottage (Buckeye Lake), Fraternal Order of Eagle#2801 (Buckeye Lake), Whetstone Medical Center (Millersport), Buckeye Lake Community Celebration Committee (Buckeye Lake), Tom Jones Insurance (Millersport), Oak Creations (Millersport), Weldon’s Ice Cream (Millersport), Sammy J’s Deli (Millersport), The Beacon, Mantonya Chiropractic Centers (Hebron), Village Twist (Millersport), Feeder Creek Veterinary SVCS.Inc. (Millersport), Buckeye Lake Marina (Millersport), Coldwell Bankers/ King Thompson - Marnita Swickard and Michelle Blizzard, Buckeye Lake Area Civic Association, and The Flooring Studio (Millersport).

Come over to the Buckeye Lake Eagles on Rt. 79 on the 26th and join us for our walk. Canal Historian Jim Reed will share information with us about the important role our canal played in Ohio history. We’ll have T-shirts (first 100 walkers) and a few goodies for you.

So, please come and join us. Questions? Call 740-928-0801 Check our Web Site www.friendsoftheBuckeyeLakeLibrary. org or The Beacon (Page 5) for a registration form.
