BLACA Boat Parade set for July 4

BUCKEYE LAKE – Don Carley, chair of this year’s Buckeye Lake Area Civic Association’s boat parade, is anticipating a great 4th of July with perfect weather. The theme is Salute to our Troops.

This year’s Grand Marshall is World War II veteran Nelson Trimmer. Nelson is 91 years young and a life long resident of Millersport.

The parade launches from Leibs Island, in front of the park office and travels along the West Bank, North Bank, past the yacht club, through Cranberry Bay, along the shoreline of Harbor Hills and Avondale and ends at Captain Woody’s.

The parade starts at 1300 hours. (1:00 p.m.) with the National Anthem, played by Howard Everitt, and Buckeye Lake VFW, Post #1388 raising the flag.

BLACA Trustees have discussed possibly decorating a boat from each war or conflict with veterans from that time period as honored passengers. These boats would lead the parade.
