Eldon L. “Sonny” Yontz
Eldon L. “Sonny” Yontz, 87, of Baltimore, died Saturday, May 15, 2010, at his residence.
He was a life long farmer and retired from Crown Zellerbach Corp. in Baltimore. He was a World War II US Army Veteran serving in European Theater where he received a Purple Heart and later served in the Pacific Theater as well. Sonny was a member of the D. A. V. Lancaster Chapter 40, United Paper Workers International union and a life member of the Baltimore VFW Post 3761.
He is survived by his aunt, Mrs. Florence Moore of Baltimore; cousins; nieces and nephews; and a great niece and nephew.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Yontz; and parents, Guy and Carrie.
A graveside service was held May 18, 2010, Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Forest Rose Cemetery with the Baltimore VFW Post 3761 conducting military rites at the cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, Lancaster.
