Winner named in BLASST theme contest

Well I think we can all be thankful that we had a much better spring than last year. We wouldn’t want a repeat of last year’s March and April ever again. The April showers will probably move to May now that we had such a pretty March and April. All this weather is a predictor of Tory’s return to her beloved Buckeye Lake.

I had a long conversation with her on the phone the other night. For those of you who have asked about her, this is the update. She was very excited about the arrival of some of her favorite Buckeye Lake friends who are coming down to celebrate Derby Day on Fort Myers Beach. She said she wouldn’t miss that for the world.

Tory plans to be home May 23 and she will have two new members of her family. Expect to see two more little Stella’s running around West Bank this summer.

As promised last week, I’ve included the rest of the entries for the BLASST theme contest. Hopefully, I haven’t missed any. I sent them all to Tory minus any identification.

Tory said her criteria for selecting the theme is three fold:

1. It adapts well to a t-shirt design; 2. It supports or compliments the BLACA boat parade theme; and

3. It says something about what BLASST represents.

In hindsight, I should have included her guidelines when I announced the contest. As they say, hinesight is always 20/20. Anyway we are pretty sure this will be the last theme contest.

Helen Wilson from New Smyrna Beach, Florida wins the $500 provided by Tory with “BLASST, A community affair…Respect for our service people is always in the air.” Tory says it is a little long, but it gets the job done. Congratulations, Helen! Tory will be getting in touch with you soon.

Here’s the rest of the entries: Celebrating Our Freedom, BLASST 2010; LibertyFest; Freedom Fourth USA; 4th of July Flight Fest; Big Bang at Buckeye Lake; Fabulous Fourth Festival; Fantastic Fourth Celebration; Yankee Homecoming Days; Celebrating our Freedom, Red, White and Buckeye Lake United Event; Red White and Buckeye Lake United Energy; and Life at the Lake is a BLASST.

Please watch for our donation letter. Our show will be at 10 p.m. on Friday, July 2.
