Cyril Robert (Bob) Amspaugh

A military memorial service celebrating the life of Cyril Robert (Bob) Amspaugh, 86, of Newark, was held on April 6, 2010, at Jacksontown United Methodist Church, with Pastor Bob Byers and Pastor William Wayt. Military Honors were conducted by the Hebron American Legion Post #285. Burial was in Greenfield Township, Fairfield County.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Parkinson) Amspaugh; parents, Emmitt and Addie (Stout) Amspaugh; sister, Pauline Giger/Reese; and brother, Harold Amspaugh.

Bob proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the World War II. He was a plant engineer for the Harts Biscuit Company and Sta/Fresh Buns of Ohio. He was also self-employed with Beer Coil Service. Before his retirement in 1987, Bob was a member of Jacksontown United Methodist and American Legion Post #285 in Hebron. Bob enjoyed cooking and playing cards with family and friends.

Bob is survived by his children, Larry Amspaugh (Newark), Fred Amspaugh (Etna), Jeff Amspaugh (Newark), Janelle Wayt (Newark); sister-in-law, Judy (Art) Laskowski of California; nieces, Karen (Guy) Lawler of Reynoldsburg, and Nichole (Tony) Gerst of California; nephew, James Lennington of Reynoldsburg; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, Jacksontown United Methodist Church, or American Legion Post #285, Hebron.
