Robert “Bob” Dale Sills

Robert “Bob” Dale Sills, CLU ChFC, age 65 of Thornville, formerly of Columbus, died February 28, 2010. He was born on May 31, 19944, in Evansville, Indiana, son of the late Dale Sills and Norma Leaf Sills. He was an adored husband, Dad and Papaw. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Barbara; daughters, Brooke (Brian) Schermerhorn and Bergen (Erik) James; grandchildren, Brielle and Brenna Schermerhorn and Beckett James; sister, Nancy (Roger) Cavan; nieces, Cheryl (James) Evans and Linda Duke; nephew, Charles Cavan; and many cousins, great-nieces and greatnephews.

He was a graduate of Marion High School, Marion, Indiana, and Purdue University; and a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. Bob was an agent with New York Life Insurance Company for nearly 40 years, a Life Member of Million Dollar Round Tabel, longtime volunteer and supporter of Children’s Hospital, Charity Newsies and Million Dollar Round Table Foundation. Bob had many dear friends and will be remembered for his colorful stories, outgoing personality, love of life and family, cooking, fishing and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a friend to everyone he met and will be greatly missed by all.

Mass of Christian Burial was March 5, 2010, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Msgr. Kenneth Grimes, Celebrant. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery.
