Hannah R. “Betty” Winegardner

Hannah R. “Betty” Winegardner, age 88, of Thornville passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Selma Markowitz Care Center, in Newark.

She was born on November 13, 1921, in Thornville to the late Alva and Mabel R. (Smedley) Hamm. Betty went to school at Thornville, and was married to her loving husband, Homer for 47 years. She had a huge garden with flowers and vegetables and would can the vegetables she grew. Betty was an Avon sales representative for 48 years, loved to travel and take vacations. She was a wonderful housewife, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and a member of the Thornville United Methodist Church.

Betty is survived by her children, Charles F. Winegardner, and Cindy Heimerl; grandchildren, Cory W. and Cody F. Heimerl; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents. she is preceded in death by her husband, Homer Frederick Winegardner.

A graveside service was held March 9, 2010, at Lutheran Reformed Cemetery with Pastor Gerri Lampton officiating.
