Hebron names new fire prevention officer
Mayor Clifford Mason gave the oath of office to Brad Essick during the Feb. 10 village council meeting. Essick, a part-time fire fighter for three years with the department, replaces Ron Jones as the full-time fire prevention officer. Jones retired Jan. 31, 2009. The Granville Township resident is also a member of the Granville Township Fire Department.
In other business last Wednesday night, council discussed a revised job description for the village fiscal officer in detail, ultimately approving it unanimously.
Village fiscal officer Carie Kraner resigned last December to ac- cept a position as finance director for the Village of Granville. She had previously worked for Granville before becoming Hebron’s first appointed fiscal officer.
Tax Administrator Mindy Kester is serving as interim fiscal officer. With the approval of revised job description, Hebron officials have set a tight schedule for applicants. An application, which is available from the village administrative office during regular business hours, resume and cover letter are due by the close of business on Friday, Feb. 26. Candidates with a background in goernment accounting are preferred.
“Hopefully by the middle of March we’ll have something happening,“ Mason said.
Fire Chief Randy Weekly said the department made 65 runs in January – 47 EMS and 18 fire. A work session with Union Township Trustees to discuss the 2010 fire contract is set for February 18.
Council’s next regular meeting is set for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at the municipal complex.
