He worked at Rockwell International in Heath for many years and, after retiring, enjoyed working with his dump truck. He also considered himself a farm boy and loved his tractors.
He is survived by his loving family: His wife, Virginia, whom he married on May 27, 2007; his children, Darla (Roger) Foltz of Newark, Brenda (Terry) Amspaugh of Millersport, Rick (Cindy) Thompson of Thornville, Brian (Heidi) Thompson of Buckeye Lake, Gene (Karen) Thompson of Frankfort; his step-children, Lenora (Vince) West of Zanesville, Gary (Beth) Gilgien of Thornville and Anna (Arista) Spotts of Clarksville, Tenn.; his 22 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Janice (Flowers) Thompson in 1988; his grandson, Steven; his sister; and his three brothers.
Services celebrating his life were held Jan. 4 in the Fairfield Beach United Methodist Church. Burial was at Floral Hills Memory Gardens near Lancaster.
