Thanks for Community Christmas

Editor:

Now that the holidays have passed for another year and folks are settling back into their routines it seem a good time to thank the wonderful residents, business owners,

non-profit groups and volunteers for helping the children of Buckeye Lake and the surrounding communities enjoy one of the best Community Christmas’ ever!

This event, held the second Saturday in December at the parking lot across from the Village Hall, boasted its fourth year. Two hundred children this year in our community received coats and hats and gloves as the word got out The Buckeye Lake Community Event Committee can really put on a great show and with the help of over 50 businesses in our area the children also received gifts and food.

Santa and Mrs. Claus got a ride, much to the delight of children, on the Buckeye Lake Fire truck where they were cheered by all as they drove in. Santa took orders and each child received a Christmas Bear, gifts and candy. The Salvation Army Canteen Wagon handed out over 350 hotdogs, hot chocolate and cookies.

There was a fire to warm up by with carols playing and games for the children why they waited their turn to whisper in Santa’s ear want they wanted.

The Buckeye Lake Police helped residents across the road and both departments assisted the children as they got to get on the fire truck and look in the police car. They also talked to them about fire safety and personal safety.

It does a community good to get together and meet neighbors. There were smiles all over Buckeye Lake that day. So many of our children had a Christmas present or two, a warm coat and a full belly when they headed back home.

Thank you, Buckeye Lake, the Community Events organizers, the business’ owners (you know who you are) and the volunteers. It was a day we will all remember.

Can’t wait till Next year!!!!!
