The Hebron Kroger store presented a $4,876 check to Lakewood Schools Dec. 14. Kroger sponsored a Lakewood Shopping Day on Saturday, Dec. 5, pledging to give the schools five percent of the day’s total sales, excluding tobacco, liquor, gift cards and fuel sales. Arnie Ettenhofer, Lakewood director of pupil services thanked Hebron Kroger Manager Josh Wise and all Kroger associates for their support of the schools. Ettenhofer said the money is bound for the district’s general fund; it wasn’t designated for a specific use. He said Wise approached the Lakewood administration and offered to sponsor the day. “He stated, ‘We have a great opportunity in our community to give back to our education system,’” said Ettenhofer. “We jumped at the chance to be part of their generous offer.” He believes the Kroger Corporation has sponsored similar events for many schools and communities throughout Central Ohio.
