Thomas E. “Tommy” Hudgens

A funeral service celebrating the life of Thomas E. “Tommy” Hudgens, 49, of Harbor Hills, will be held Friday, November 13, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of The Hoskinson Funeral Home, Kirkersville, with Pastor Robert Rucker as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Jacksontown.

Tommy died Tuesday afternoon, November 10, 2009, in Newark following a brief illness. He was born March 20, 1960, in Barberton, the son of Sylvia and Gary Berkley of Heath.

He was a 1978 graduate of Lakewood High School.

Tommy was employed by Licking County as a 911 dispatcher, and also worked parttime at Harbor Hills Country Club. He was a member of the Thornport AMVETS, was a former volunteer fireman at Hebron, and enjoyed spending time with his family and countless friends. With Tommy, it was always about “people helping people”.

He is survived by his loving family: his wife, Beth, whom he married in 1985; his two sons, Travis and Tyler of Harbor Hills; his in-laws, Dr. Richard (Rosie) Walters of Harbor Hills, Elaine (Dr. Mitch) Mitchell of Hilliard; his siblings, Scott (Lisa) Berkley of Joliet, IL, Gary (Amy) Berkley of Groveport, Michelle (Mark) Mulder of Ft. Myers, FL, Todd (Tina) Berkley of Ellenton, FL; his brothers and sisters-inlaw, Jeff Walters of Cedarville, Jill Cooper of Bexley, Lisa Noble of Heath and Lori (Zach) Hatcher of Phoenix, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His family will receive friends on Thursday, November 12, 200,9 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 East Main St. in Kirkersville. An online guest register and video tribute are available at www.hoskinsonfuneral. com.

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
