More support for Basil fire replacement levy

Editor:

The residents of the Basil Joint Fire District are very fortunate to have a first class operation when it comes to our emergency medical and fire services. Our Fire Board has taken our Fire and Emergency Services on a continuous improvement road providing the residents with two 24/7 staffed fire houses to insure prompt response to whatever emergencies we may encounter.

To keep improving, the district plans to purchase a combination truck that can handle two functions, providing better coverage with current manpower, reducing maintenance and fuel costs. Also in the plans are upgrades to Station 611 on Stoudertown Road to provide adequate housing for 24 hour staffing and proper storage for turn-out gear.

To insure that our service continues to improve, we must support Issue 7– the 3.0 mill REPLACEMENT levy – on the Nov. 3 ballot. Approval would increase taxes by just $51 per year for a home valued at $100,000. This is a small price to pay for the peace of mind we have knowing our brave fire fighters will respond quickly to all of our emergencies.
