C-TEC shops reopen to the public

NEWARK –The C-TEC Boulevard, a series of shops open to the public, has once again opened its doors. The businesses are operated by the students and instructors in C-TEC programs as part of real-world career experience. Community members may visit the Boulevard to take advantage of the quality, low-priced services. C-TEC is located at 150 Price Road in Newark.

The Bistro, a full-service restaurant operated by the senior culinary arts students, is open Tuesdays through Fridays, from 10:45 a.m. – 1:15 p.m., beginning Sept. 22. The menu features several made-from-scratch appetizers, salads, soups, sandwiches, gourmet entrees and desserts that change weekly. The marketing and retail management students manage Fashion Point, C-TEC’s school store. They offer everything from school supplies to clothing and jewelry. They also stock school memorabilia, including customized clothing, for area schools. Fashion Point is open daily, from 10 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. For more information, call 364-2436.

The Preschool Academy, a licensed Ohio Department of Education preschool for children, is operated by certified professionals, along with our early childhood education students. The preschool accepts children ranging from 3 to 5 years of age; and is open daily, from 8:45 - 11:10 a.m. and 12:10 - 2:30 p.m. For an application to enroll a child, please call 364-4414.

Studio Designs, a full-service hair salon and spa, offers haircuts, perms, coloring, as well as manicures, pedicures, facials and waxing. All services are performed by supervised students, and the program is affiliated with the National Cosmetology Association. Studio Designs schedules services Tuesdays through Fridays, from noon – 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 - 6 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays. To make an appointment, please call 364-2228. Walk-ins also are welcome.

Travel Trunk, which offers destination research and travel planning, as well as travel-related items (luggage, accessories, maps, etc.) and Licking County collectibles (snow globes and lighted courthouse replicas—final productions), is open daily from 12:15-2:30 p.m. It is operated by the senior hotel and travel management students
