Kirby Mullins, of Thornville, formerly of Haysi, VA, passed suddenly on September 28, 2009, at the age of 42. He was born on July 12, 1967, in Richlands, Virginia.
Kirby loved life. In 2003, he fought and won a courageous battle with cancer. His favorite past-time was four wheeling, camping and spending time with his family and friends. He was a hard worker, a devoted son, father and grandfather. He was employed at Bowman Chevrolet for 12 years and then at Matthews Ford as a detailer for the last three years of his life.
Kirby gave the gift of life through the donation of his corneas.
Kirby was preceded in death by his father, Kermit Mullins; brother, Danny Ray Mullins; maternal grandparents, Corbett Owens and Vivian Owens; and paternal grandparents, Allen Mullins and Edith Mullins.
Survivors include his loving mother, Juanita Owens-Mullins, and Fritz Erckert, of the home; two adored daughters, Kelly Ann
Adkins and husband, Randall, of Newark and Natasha Renee Mullins and Dustin Arnett, of Somerset; three precious grandchildren, Shyanne Nevaeh Adkins, Randall Scott Adkins Jr., and Remington Wayne Adkins, of Newark; one loyal brother, Morgan Mullins, and wife, Regina, of Buckeye Lake; four wonderful nieces and nephews, Ashley Mullins and Tyler Mullins, of Haysi, VA, and CorbyLee Mullins and Michele Mullins, of Central Ohio; several exceptional friends, Misty Priest, Dave Belt, Billy Belt and Verl Salyer; and many other devoted family and friends.

A funeral service will be held Friday, October 2, 2009, at The Haysi Funeral Home, 24682 Dickenson Highway, Haysi VA. Burial will follow in the Owens-Mullins Family Cemetery, The Breaks, Virginia.
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
