Writer supports Badgeley, Montell for Liberty Township Trustee

Editor:

We have six Liberty Township Trustee candidates running for office.

I am trying to make sense of it all since trustees receive such a small salary – based on years of service acquired, enrollment in Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) and an opportunity to provide procedures for residents.

We have one candidate who lives at the corner of Ohio 256 and Heimberger Road who owns what appears to be a junk yard at the corner. Another candidate who is a former trustee “yes man” who owns large parcels of land.

A third candidate lives in Baltimore, works for Walnut Township road crew and, in my opinion, hopes to pad his PERS.

The fourth candidate is the wife of our current Fiscal Officer – an elected position. I could be wrong, but I think this may be an ethics violation. Is this allowed by current policy? If elected, would she have to step down and allow her committee to decide who would replace her, and who is on her committee?

The fifth candidate is the incumbent who opted not to receive PERS or medical insurance and has worked for the benefit of all township residents by accomplishing long, overdue zoning violation corrections.

The final candidate is the owner of Captivating Images Photography in Baltimore – a member of multiple area organizations and a forward thinker in our community.

I ask you to vote for Nancy Montell and Bob Badgeley on November 3rd.
