Dawes Arboretum - Ohio 13, three miles north of I-70.

Bluegrass, Barbecue and Boom!- Sunday, Sept. 6, 3:00 pm - 10:00 pm, This Labor Day weekend event will feature bluegrass bands, barbecue vendors and fireworks. Gates open at 3pm. Music begins at 3:30pm.

Lake Tours - Buckeye Lake. See historic Buckeye Lake by boat. Take a ride on the Greater Buckeye Lake Historical Society's Queen of the Lake II. The 40-passenger boat cruises every Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. from May to October. Board at the Buckeye Lake State Park's North Shore Ramp just off Ohio 79 in the Village of Buckeye Lake. Tours are not operated during thunderstorms. Suggested donations are $11 for adults and $9 for seniors and children. Children under age 5 are free. • Saturday, Aug. 29: Cruise In At The Park, Saturday, Aug. 29, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Infirmary Mound Park. Rev up your engines and join us from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. for a day full of classic cars and trucks. Trophies will be awarded to top 25 vehicles. If you have a car or truck you would like to enter, load up and meet at the James Bradley Center. • Saturday, Sept. 12: Wings and Webs, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m., Lobdell Reserve, main parking area, Mounts Road, Alexandria. With the help of our friends from Ohio Nature Education we will search the meadows for migrating Monarch butterflies to capture and band. While searching for the Monarchs we will also keep our eyes open for garden spiders or Argiopes; some of the largest and most colorful spiders that inhabit the meadows. Live predators will also be on hand. Ages 8 years and up. Registration deadline is August 28. $3 per person, $10 per family max, Park Express Members free. Flint Ridge Knap-In - Near Brownsville. The Ohio Historical Society and the Flint Ridge Lithic Society partner to present this unique gathering of individuals from all over the country, Sept. 4-6, who are skilled in the ancient craft of making tools and weapons from flint and other stone materials. There is a large selection of flint products for sale and flint knapping and other ancient skill technology demonstrations are held throughout the event. On Saturday, an archaeologist will be present to identify artifacts brought in by the public. There also will be long dart competitions sponsored by the Ohio Atlatl Association. 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. both days. Admission: $5/car. For more information, call 800.283.8707.

Sweet Corn Festival - Millersport. Capping off four nights of free entertainment on three stages is Grand Ole Opry Legend John Conlee in concert 8 p.m.on Friday, Sept. 4 and that hot, young Nashville Star Tracy Lawrence appearing on Saturday, Sept. 5, 8 p.m. The Grand Parade kicks off the 63rd Annual Sweet Corn Festival on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 6 p.m. with the Ohio State School for the Blind Marching Band leading a field of 16 area high school bands. Come enjoy hot buttered sweet corn served piping hot and plenty of other tempting food delicacy all prepared and served by over a thousand volunteers. All food and game booths are operated by Central Ohio Area non-profit community-based organizations, making this four-day event one of the largest charitable fundraising projects. There is something for everyone, young and old alike: tractor pulls, farm animals, children's contests, clogging, square dancing, historical buildings, games, and midway rides. On Saturday, Sept. 5, the 5-K Run starts at 9 a.m.and the festival finishes with a big cash drawing at 11 p.m. for $10,000. Free admission. Parking $10. Swappers Day - Johnstown. Come out Saturday, Sept. 5 for the Sportsmen's Club Swappers Day. It is one of the oldest, largest, most exciting flea markets in Central Ohio. This is our 65th year! Licking County Community Prayer Breakfast - OSU Newark. Start Friday, Sept. 11 with prayer and an inspirational message from OSU great and NBA Hall of Famer Jerry Lucas in Adena Hall. Lucas' message will focus on improving family relationships and his pursuit of personal peace. Reservations are required and individual tickets are $15 per person. Echoes of the Past - Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newark. Join the Licking County Historical Society for its populr annual graveyard walk at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11. Hear actors from the Licking County Players Suitcase Theater group present stories of past Licking County citizens as they "come back to life" at their grave sites! Meet at the Cedar Street entrance. Free for LCHS members and $5 for non-members.


Fall Hookahville - Pataskala. Trickle Productions LLC presents Hookahville XXXII a three-day music and camping event Sept. 3-5 at Frontier Ranch Music Center. Presale tickets for Hookahville are available for $65 in advance and will be $80 at the gate. Early bird camping is available beginning Friday at 12 noon for an additional $20 per person, with paid festival admission. Tickets include camping, parking and shows.
