Ohio State School for the Blind Marching Band set for parade
On Wednesday, Sept. 2, the Ohio State School for the Blind Marching Band will lead the 63rd Grand Parade of the Sweet Corn Festival at 6:00 p.m. in Millersport. We encourage all residents within the tricounty area to come and support the only blind marching band in the nation as a preview to their appearance in the 120th Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena on January 1.
Co-Directors of the band are Dan Kelley and Carol Agler. The band became a marching band in 2005 when the Ohio School for the Deaf revived its football program after a 30+ year hiatus. There are currently 35 members in the band and about as many sighted marching assistants. During the 2008-2009 season the band performed at an Ohio State University Skull Session in St. John Arena.
Please join the Millersport Lions Club in rolling out the welcome mat for these talented musicians and those from the area high schools of Amanda-Clearcreek, Berne Union, Bloom-Carroll, Fairfield Union, Fisher Catholic, Heath, Johnstown Monroe, Lakewood, Liberty Union, Licking Heights, Licking Valley, Logan, Millersport, New Lexington, Sheridan and Watkins Memorial on Sept. 2.
Strike up the band! Ron Keller General Chairman Sweet Corn Festival, Inc.
