Thanks for a great Tour of Homes
Thank You to everyone who made the 24th annual Tour of Homes another successful event. To host over 750 visitors to 5 homes by pontoon boats takes over 140 volunteers, doing everything they can to make the day an enjoyable experience for all involved.
There are so many people to recognize, it is difficult to know where to begin. Our Corporate sponsors, each of whom donated $ 1,000 were Coconis Furniture, Guitar Parts Resource, the Landings at Maple Bay as well as Re/ Max Realtors, Joyce Thorp and Kyle Thorp. Without their continued financial support, it would not be possible to carry on the tradition in the manner in which it has developed over the years.
Donations and contributions from Kroger, the Jabber Shop, Boat Boys, WalMart, the Buckeye Lake Beacon, Harbor Hills Country Club and Fisher's Marina also contributed to the overall success of the day.
Two community groups came out to support this year's effort. The Columbus firefighters from Fireman's Park were out in force working on the docks, assisting with loading and unloading passengers, as well as helping to park cars at the North Shore. In addition, members of the Millersport football team gave up their Sunday afternoon to lend a hand where needed. These efforts continue to emphasize what a great community we live in.
Outstanding leadership was provided by Maria Spring for the hostesses, Jessica Bradley with the dock workers, Rick Rife and the parking lot crew and Bud Springer who took complete charge of the main dock. Words are not sufficient to recognize the countless hours and devotion to duty from these individuals.
Finally, I would be remiss not to recognize the efforts of this year's Chair for the Tour. Janet Bartholow spent months preparing for this day and the work that she put into developing a first class experience for the community really paid off in a big way. Congratulations for a job well done!
Today, the planning begins for the Silver Anniversary Tour of Homes, scheduled for August 8, 2010. If you would like to volunteer your time, boat, home or money, contact any Officer or Trustee of the Buckeye Lake Area Civic Association.
