Liberty Union seeking candidates for board vacancy
      BALTIMORE - Liberty Union-Thurston School Board President Kevin Byers has resigned effective immediately. Byers was appointed to the board in March 2007 after Janet Raver resigned. Her term ran through Dec. 31, 2009. Board members have set a tight schedule to appoint a replacement in order to give the new member time to file a petition for the November ballot.

Neighbors file suit to try to stop C&DD landfill
      LANCASTER - A hearing is set for next week on a motion for a Preliminary Injunction to stop the development of a construction and demolition debris landfill in Walnut Township. Cherry Lane Development, LLC, which is owned by Ron and Irene DiPaolo, and the DiPaolos individually, filed a complaint June 11, 2009, in Fairfield County Common Pleas Court.

Trustees reject $20,000 savings on repaving work
      HEBRON - Union Township Trustees rejected a low paving bid because they said it didn't meet the specifications of the job, even though it was roughly $20,000 less than a competing bid. Last month trustees opened bids from the Shelly Company and Mid-Ohio Paving to repave seven township roads, including Grande Pointe, Old Farm Road, and Margaret Lane. Shelly bid $120,949.

Lakewood levy on November ballot
      HEBRON- Lakewood School Board members hope voters allow the district to recover more than $3 million in lost personal property revenues by approving an 8.9 mill operating levy in November. Early July 29 morning, board members unanimously approved a resolution to place the five-year emergency levy on the ballot.

More H1NI Flu cases confirmed
      NEWARK - The Licking County Health Department has identified two additional confirmed cases of H1N1 flu in Licking County. These two cases, along with a case that was confirmed on July 9, brings the total number of H1N1 cases in the county to three. Eight prior suspected cases of H1N1 flu from Licking County have been ruled out after further testing was conducted.

      Geek Squad? We don't need a stinkin' Geek Squad. That's because I am the Freak Squad, my family's dubious answer to Best Buy's famous techno-wizards. I unpack the computers, plug them in and install the software. I set up the cell phones, wire the televisions, defrag the hard drives, run speaker wire, and set up many a Playstation and Wii.
