History Detective Scavenger Hunt- Saturday, August 1, 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., $8/$5 members, Zand Education Center. For more than 80 years, famous people—including aviators, explorers and sports stars—have dedicated trees at The Arboretum. Armed with clues and a map, discover some of the notable people who dedicated trees including the "Galloping Ghost," the first man to orbit the earth and a U.S. Vice President. Arboretum Historian David Vermilion will lead this opportunity for family fun for adults and youngsters.
Swingin' in the Trees- Saturday, August 8, Noon - 4:00 p.m. Free, at the Concert Stage. Join us for an afternoon of free family fun! The entertainment begins at noon with Slapdash Quartet presenting contemporary and standard jazz music. An interactive on-stage music program for children starts at 1pm and moves into a 30-minute dance lesson for kids, teens or just the young at heart. The main event—Swing's the Thing—takes the stage at 2pm and invites the audience to dance along. Swing's the Thing is a 16- piece big band based in central Ohio. The band will bring to life hits from a variety of new artists, as well as play tunes from the books of such legends as Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, and Woody Herman—just to name a few. Swing's the Thing covers a wide range of dance styles, including swing, rock, ballad, blues, chacha, rumba, mambo, samba, waltz, disco and foxtrot. Throughout the afternoon, children's games and crafts will be offered. Lunch and ice cream will be available for purchase from the Grill on 21st and Weldon's Ice Cream. Please bring your own lawn chairs or blankets. Picnics are permitted.

Lake Tours - Buckeye Lake. See historic Buckeye Lake by boat. Take a ride on the Greater Buckeye Lake Historical Society's Queen of the Lake II. The 40-passenger boat cruises every Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. from May to October. Board at the Buckeye Lake State Park's North Shore Ramp just off Ohio 79 in the Village of Buckeye Lake. Tours are not operated during thunderstorms. Suggested donations are $11 for adults and $9 for seniors and children. Children under age 5 are free. Baltimore Festival - Baltimore. Aug 5-8, at Johnson Park, Baltimore. Free Admission. Princess pageant, Ohio-Erie Canal tours, cruise-in Friday evening, 5K road race 7-9 a.m. and grand parade 10 a.m. Saturday, live entertainment, children's events, raffle, prizes, games, rides, food, craft show and fireworks Saturday night.
Tour of Homes - Buckeye Lake. The Buckeye Lake Area Civic Association's 24th Annual Tour of Homes is set for Sunday, August 9. This year's tour features home that are built on the Buckeye Lake shoreline. Newly constructed homes as well as original cottage s will be showcased. Guests will be transported by pontoon boats to the homes. The first boat leaves the North Shore boat ramp at noon and the last boat starting the tour leaves at 3 p.m. Free parking is available at the boat ramp, just off Ohio 79 in the Village of Buckeye Lake. Tour donation is $15.
Ice Cream Social & Band Concert - Hebron. Bring the family to Hebron's Canal Park for a free band concert by the Licking County 4-H Band at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 2. Enjoy an old fashioned ice cream social. Sponsored by the Hebron Business Association.
