Lewis E. Ed Smith
Lewis E. Ed Smith, 88 of Lancaster, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at Fairfield Medical Center. He was retired from Anchor Hocking Glass Corp. with 42 years of service, a life long farmer and a World War II US Army veteran. He attended Faith Memorial Church, Cedar Hill Calvary United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Baltimore VFW Post 3761.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eudella Smith; daughters, Diana (Gary) Kennedy of Kentucky, Carolyn Smith, and Penny (Clarence) Boysel all of Lancaster; son, Paul David (Chris) Smith of Galena; four grandchildren, Jessica (Blair) Dowdy, Jennifer (Chris Wood) Smith, Robert (Amberleigh) Smith, and Sara Asher; great grandchildren, Haley, Kellen, Hayden, Aiden, and Camden; two sisters, Mildred Zurface and Kathryn Lewis both of Washington Court House; brother, John W. Smith of Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rancie and Emma Smith; brothers, Virgil and Eugene Smith; and sisters, Evelyn Crist, Louise Smith, and Alma Beard.
Funeral service was June 30, 2009, in the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Baltimore, with Pastor Mel Truex officiating. Burial followed in Union Evangelical Cemetery with Baltimore VFW Post 3761 conducting military rites at the cemetery.
