No. 88 car coming to Baltimore

BALTIMORE - Dale Earnhart Jr.'s No. 88 Amp car will be at Baltimore Market IGA Express from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 2. As last year, the appearance will benefit Christ United Methodist Church's "Sending Love Over There" project.

Since February 2007, Christ United Methodist Church of Baltimore has been sending weekly boxes of food and personal items to area trooops in Afghanistan and Iraq. So far, more than 1,140 flat rate Global Priority boxes have been sent. Each box costs $11.95 to ship.

On Thursday, project volunteers will be selling a limited number of Dale Earnhart Jr. posters and cardboard stand-ups donated by Pepsi and Baltimore Market IGA. They will also be accepting donations of items such as sunscreen, playing cards, magazines, AA batteries, socks, gum and compact snack items. Cards and letters to the troops are also appreciated. Free Kahn's hot dogs on Nickles buns will be available during the car's vist. Velvet Ice Cream has teamed up with Mug root beer and Orange Crush to give away floats. Prizes from Pepsi will be given away in drawings.

WHOK 95.5 The Hawk will be at the event, signing up fans for their "AMPED UP SUMMER" grand prize package of a brand new Sony flat panel HDTV home theater system.
