Willis E. Allen

Willis E. Allen, 76, of Thornville, went to be with his wife, Joyce, on Thursday evening, June 4, 2009, at his residence. Willis was born March 4, 1933, to the late Morton D. and Mary Mooter Allen.

He attended Drums Lutheran Church. He did construction and electrical work and had worked for Rockwell International in Newark. Willis was a loving caregiver to many elderly patients over the years and enjoyed family, friends and going to Wheeling Downs. Surviving are his children, Rodger (Alma) Allen of Millersport, Douglas (Debby) Allen of Lancaster, Stephen (Audrea) Allen of Florida, Brenda (Phil) George of Pleasantville and Terry (Jinezel) Allen of Lancaster; a sister, Pat (Robert) Binder of Lancaster; a sister-in-law, Donna (Melvin) Peters of Rushville; ten grandchildren, Greg, Amy, Stacy, Julee, Jenny, Christy, Jared, Angel, Heather and Cassady; five greatgrand children, Boston, Jentzen, Chaz, David Jr., and Zachary; and best friends, Jean Terry and Tim Cotterman.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by 10 brothers and one sister.

Services were held June 6, 2009, at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset with the Rev. Diana Circelli officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date. There was a caring cremation at Willis' request.
