Otto B. Sanders Jr.
Otto Blackburn Sanders Jr., age 85 of Thornville, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster.
Otto was born July 26, 1923, in Sharples, West Virginia, to the late Otto Sr. and Maude (Kidd) Sanders. He was a graduate of Central High School and Franklin University. He served in the 8th Airf Force, 392nd Bomb Group, as a gunner in which his B-24, "The Birdie Schmitt" was the lead crew in his squadron. He worked for Producers Live Stock and Ohio Operating Engineers Local 18. Otto also loved to fish on Buckeye Lake.
He is survived by his children, Clarence Malcolm (Lorena) Hicks III of Hide-A-Hills, Bradford Otto (Kimberly) Sanders of Paaskala, and Rebecca L. Marshall of Somerset; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and brother, Harry (Dottie) Sanders.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite (Sohl) Sanders, to whom he was married to for 60 years.
Friends may call Saturday, May 23, 2009, from 2-4 p.m. at Boring-Sheridan Funeral Home, 56 S. Main St., Thornville. The family will speak at 4 p.m. following the calling hours, with a military service at 4:30 p.m.
