Lewis Edmund Courson

Lewis Edmund Courson, age 88 of Thornville, entered into eternal peace on Monday, May 4, 2009 at the Hospice of Central Ohio Unit, Licking Memorial Hospital.

Lewis was born January 25, 1921, in Thornville, to Carl and Estella (Edmund) Courson.

He was a graduate of Thornville High School with the class of 1938. He served in the Air Force, retiring as a Lt. Colonel after 28 years of service. He was a Thornville Mason and he served as the lodge Education officer for several years. If had lived until next February, he would have been a 60 year member. He was a member of Thornville #521 F & AM, Valley of Columbus-AASR, 32nd degree, an 18 year member; of the Aladdin Shrine since 1991; lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church, and loved to fish.

He is survived by daughters, Pamela Courson of Thornville and Sheryl (Eric) Allison of Portsmouth, Ohio; granddaughter: Sarah Allison of Portsmouth, sisters: Louise (Cleo) Franks, Ruth White, both of Thornville, Virginia Frankenbery of Newark; brother, Marlyn (Phyllis) Courson of Mt. Vernon; and many nieces and nephews.

Lewis was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Pauline (Grubb) Courson, to whom he was married to for 60 years.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 1:30 pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 65 East Columbus Street, with Pastors Jeff and Patti Morlock officiating. Burial will follow at Lutheran Reformed Cemetery, Thornville, Ohio with military graveside honors.
