H. Jean Davis

A funeral service celebrating the life of Hilda Jean Davis, 85, of Hebron, was held graveside April 20, 2009, at Kirkersville Cemetery, with Pastor Steven Brown as Celebrant.

Jean died early Friday morning, at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Care Center at Licking Memorial Hospital, Newark, following an extended illness. She was born in Union Township, on February 28, 1924, the daughter of Harold and Goldie (Laughery) Weekly. She was a 1942 graduate of Hebron High School, and was a lifelong homemaker.

She enjoyed sports, especially Lakewood baseball, Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, and Cleveland Browns and Indians; and adored her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Harold Joseph "Codge" Davis, preceded her in death in 1990 along with her siblings, Nel (Del) Caughenbaugh and Jim (Martha) Weekly; and brother-inlaw C.R. (Dick) Smith.

She is survived by her loving family, Mary Ann (Don) Thorp of Hebron, Janet (Rob) Springer of Hebron and Joseph Davis of Waipahu, Hawaii; grandchildren, Jerry (Teri) Thorp, Tara

Tim) McMillen, Jason (Lindsay) Slack, Kira (Curt) Weaver, Holly Slack (Gary Brookey) and Megan Springer; five greatgrandchildren, Cole, Craig, Levi, Rogan and Lashelle; her brothers, Harold (Mary Jo) Weekly and Paul ( Lena Mae) Weekly; her sisters: Shirley Smith and Mary Lou(Frank) Teasdale; and many nieces and nephews.
