Nick Byers, age 17, passed away on Sunday morning, April 5th, 2009. He was a senior at Liberty Union High School, who ran both cross-country and track. He participated in the knowledge bowl, was on the honor roll, played alto sax for Liberty Union's Marching, Pep, Concert, and Jazz bands; and was a determined Trebuchet competitor. He was also a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Lancaster.
He is survived by his loving parents, Kevin and Shelly Byers, of Baltimore; brother, Nate Byers, of Baltimore; grandparents, Robert and Patricia Tyrrell, of Crestline, OH, and Eudora Byers, of Mansfield; great-greataunt, Dorothy Cook, of Crestline, OH; several loving aunts, uncles, and cousins; and survived by many loyal and loving friends at Liberty Union and elsewhere.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard C. Byers.
A service will take place at the Liberty Union High School at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 10, officiated by Father James Walter. Burial will follow at Basil Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, at the Johnson Smith Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the Liberty Union High School.
