Another Letter: New baseball field ready

Editor:

A new baseball field has been added to the Walnut Township and Fairfield Beach Family Park. The field is regulation size and is now open for public use. It will be used by Laker Youth Baseball which holds its opening day game at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 31.

The Walnut Township and Fairfield Beach Family Park opened in 2000 and provides many recreational opportunities for area residents, including playground, soccer field, basketball court and shelter house.

The new baseball field was made possible by a NatureWorks grant from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources which paid 75 percent of the project's cost. Additional acknowledgement and thanks is due to the Walnut Township Trustees and fiscal officer for their support and labor; Randy Kemmerer and Ed Lynch for all their time and many hours of labor; and Top Cat Concrete for donating the sand.
