Ellen Poling, age 83, of Thornville, died Monday, March 9, 2009, at her residence. She was a retired housecleaner.
She is survived by her sisters, Rosalee Lacey of Lancaster and Ollie Travis of S. Charleston, Ohio; several nieces and nephews, including Richard and Diana Lacey of Thornville; great nieces and nephews, Jack, Johnathan, Richard, Jr., Derrick, Dustin, Dustin Scott, and Wynonna; and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Issaac Arter; daughter, Patricia Ann Arter; parents, Thomas and Nellie Mettler; brothers, Walter and Charles Mettler; sisters, Martha Bell, Myrtle Edwards, and Georgia Griffith; and brother-in-law, Jack Lacey. Funeral service will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, 405 N. Columbus St., Lancaster, with Pastor William Lavely of Fairfield Christian Church officiating. Burial to follow in Forest Rose Cemetery. Friends may visit two hours prior the service on Friday at the funeral home.
