Virgil Boyer, 87, of Millersport, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at his residence. He was a retired painter and a World War II US Army Air Corp. veteran. He was a member of the Millersport American Legion Post #637.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Esther; daughter, Juanita Mae Boyer of Florence, Kentucky; sons, Ronald G. Boyer of Hemit, California, Kenneth A. Boyer of Millersport, and Stephen E. (Carole) Boyer of Florence, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Amanda Boyer, Rob Boyer, Angie (Nate) Large, Christopher (Jennifer) Boyer, and James Boyer; great grandchildren, Chase, Kaleb, Tyler, Brooke, Harlee, and Jacob; and niece, Beatrice Boltenhouse of Circleville, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Okie and Stella Boyer; step-mother, Ida Stevenson; brothers, Leora, Murray, Oscar and Lawrence Boyer; and sisters, Sylvia Keller, Ethel Boyer, and Maneva Ross.
Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Johnson Smith Funeral Home Chapel, 207 S. Main St., Baltimore, with Pastor Doug Lynn officiating. Burial to follow in Fairmont Cemetery, Licking County with the Millersport American Legion conducting military rites at the cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
