After school program offered
NEWARK - The Works in downtown Newark is offering an After School Program for students age six to ten. The program features a series of classes in art and science. Registration for the series is ongoing.
Each program contains a literacy connection and is tailored to the needs of the attendees.
"Abraca-dabble: Multi-Arts Club" is a four-week multi-disciplinary arts class that allows students to "dabble" in a variety of visual art mediums through hands-on experiences, storytelling, games and experimentation. Classes are held on Mondays from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. and/or 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. through March 16th. April classes will be held at the same times on April 6, 13, 20 & 27.
The fee to attend a series of four, 1-hour art classes is $30 for members of The Works and $35 for non-members. Fees for the series of 2-hour classes are $60 for members and $70 for nonmembers. Classes are held at 46 S. Second Street in Newark.
The "Jr. Scientists" class is a four-week, hands-on experience designed to make learning fun. The classes will teach students about chemistry, electricity and physics. Classes are held on Thursdays from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., March 5 - 26, April 9 - 30 and May 7 - 28. The fee to attend a series of four, 2-hour classes is $60 for members and $70 for non-members.

The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art & Technology is a family destination and educational complex located at 55 S. 1st Street in Newark.
