Kindergarten meeting set for March 5

BALTIMORE - Liberty Union-Thurston Elementary School has set a meeting for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 5 for parents of children starting Kindergarten next school year. The meeting, for parents only, will be held in the school's multi-purpose room. Its purpose is to explain the curriculum to parents and how they can help their child become ready for school.

Kindergarten is full day, every day. Children must be 5 years old on or before August 1, 2009, to attend school.

Kindergarten registration runs from from 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. March 5 to April 17 at the elementary school office. Registration papers mall also be mailed to the school office, marked "Kindergarten Registration." Forms will be available at the March 5 meeting and at the school office after March 5. A physical exam by a doctor will be required before entry to school in the fall. The following items are required for registration: child's birth certificate, child's Social Security card, proof of residence (a utility bill with name and address, signed rental lease or pay stub with name and address) and custody papers if parents are divorced or separated.
