Gwendolyn Parks, 80, of Baltimore, died February 5, 2009, in Columbus following an extended illness.
She was born May 25, 1928, in Toler, Ky., the daughter of the late Boyd Winston and Gustavia Jane (Murphy) Allen.
Gwen was a lifelong homemaker, and loved gardening, canning and especially sewing.
She had attended the New Zion U.M. Church.
She is survived by her loving family, her husband, Dean Parks; her son, Jeff Parks of Canal Winchester; her granddaughters, Nicole and Kendra; her greatgrandson, Nicholas; her brother, Boyd Allen Jr. of Washington; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 11 sisters and brothers, Trulie and Edgar Meeks, Eulah Derry, Ray Allen, Ferd Allen, Afton Wills, Fred Allen, Maxine Allen, Wilkie Allen, Fern (who died in infancy) and Roy Lee Allen.
A funeral service celebrating her life was February 9, 2009, at Hoskinson Funeral Home, Kirkersville, with Pastor Nancy Graves as Celebrant. Burial followed in Kirkersville Cemetery.
