Healthy Marriage initiative set for March 13-14

LANCASTER - Plans are well underway by the Healthy Marriage Collaboration, Fairfield County Initiative, to bring Mike McManus, reporter, national columnist, and author of "Marriage Savers" to Lancaster on March 13 and 14.

The Healthy Marriage Initiative is a collaboration of churches, counselors, government officials, school superintendents and community agency leaders to address the 70% divorce rate in Fairfield County.

Mr. McManus says, "Every congregation has couples with solid marriages who really could be of help to other couples, but have never been asked, inspired, or trained to come alongside another couple at a key stage of their life." The training will be for mentors to aid couples particularly in the first year of marriage.

It is anticipated that 100 pastors and community leaders will sign a "Community Marriage Covenant" at the Liberty Center in Lancaster on March 13th. Pastors and lay persons may contact the initiative at www.FairfieldCountyMarriage. org for more information.
