Samuel Arthur Morrison
A funeral service celebrating the life of Samuel Arthur Morrison, 68, of Pataskala, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Hoskinson Funeral Home, 285 E. Main St., Kirkersville, with Pastor Jay Justice as celebrant. Burial will be in Kirkersville Cemetery.
Sam died early Monday morning with his family at his side after an extended illness. He was born May 11, 1940, in Taplin, W.Va., to the late Arthur Mac and Ella Margaret (Stevens) Morrison.
Sam was a master glass glazer for 30 years at Pittsburgh Plate Glass, and loved bluegrass music. He was an accomplished banjo, guitar and mandolin player. But above all, he adored and loved his family, who will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Louise, whom he married April 12, 1985; his children, Keith (Brenda) Morrison, of Pataskala, Kerry Morrison, of Columbus, Jane Justus, of Somerset, DeAnna (John) Woodruff, of Roseville, Deb (Carl) Jackson, of Bradenton, Fla., and Larry Hammonds, of Huntington, W.Va.; brother, Johnny (Barbara) Morrison, of Etna; sisters, Helen Crumin, of Virginia, Effie "Boots" Joseph, of Hilliard, Pearl (Forrest) Hall, of Grethel, Ky., and Polly (Ross) Branham, of Hebron; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bob; and a sister, Ada Lou.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
