Robert W. Lynn

A funeral service for Robert W. Lynn, 72, of Thornville, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Drumms Lutheran Church, 8995 Drumms Bottom Road, Thornville, with the Rev. David Bugh officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Drumms Lutheran Cemetery, Thornville.

Robert passed away Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster. He was born Feb. 6, 1936, in Thornville, to the late Roy and Bernice (Dupler) Lynn.

Robert married his loving wife on Aug. 26, 1956, at Drumms Lutheran Church. Bob worked for 22 years at Anchor Hocking Plant 2, was on the Northern Local School Board for eight years, retired from Fiber-Light, farmed all of his life and was a member of the Farm Bureau.

Bob was a member of Drumms Lutheran Church, a treasurer of Drumms Cemetery Association, Thornville Lions Club and received the highest award, the Melvin Jones Award, served as president for Sheridan Band Boosters, and received Silver Beaver Award highest in Boy Scouts.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary (Franks) Lynn; children: Melanie (Don) Thomas, Melinda Magnuson, Melissa (Shayn) Phipps, Robert Lynn and Eddy Lynn; sister, Dorothy Savage; grandchildren, Donnie, Pam, Jenny, Chris, Jonathan, Cassandra, Emily, and Robert James; great-grandchildren, Katelynn, Isabel, Braydon, and Gaven; and will be sadly missed by his many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Diana Lynn.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Boring-Sheridan Funeral Home, 56 S. Main St., Thornville, and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert Lynn's honor to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 651-G Lakeview Plaza Blvd., Worthington, OH 43085-4774.
