Mildred Oma Barcus

A funeral service for Mildred Oma Barcus, 88, of Hebron, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark, with Pastor Tom Myers presiding. Interment will be in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Barcus, a homemaker, passed away Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at the Newark Healthcare Centre Hospice Unit. She was born Oct. 6, 1920, in Newark, to the late Charles W. and Jennie (Gearhart) Ferrell.

Mrs. Barcus enjoyed ceramics, as well as elephants and clowns. She also enjoyed crocheting and deeply loved her family and spending time with them.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Arthur Barcus, of the home; two sons, Tom (Joyce) Peck, of Fayetteville, Ga., and William (Carol) Peck, of Mount Vernon; one daughter, Sharon Bally, of Newark; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Charles Peck, James A. Peck and Michael E. Peck; two grandchildren; two brothers; and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, OH 43055.
