Carla Alice Thorp Litteral

A funeral service celebrating the life of Carla Alice Thorp Litteral, 101, of Rochester, New York, formerly of Thornville, will be held Sunday, January 4, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Hoskinson Funeral Home, Kirkersville, with Pastor Jerry Owens as celebrant.

Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Jacksontown.

Carla died on December 21, 2008 following a brief illness. She was born in Owsley County, Kentucky on May 9, 1907, the daughter of the late S.B. and Mollie (Creech ) Caudill. She lived for several years in Kanawa County, W.Va., and moved to Licking County in 1952.

She was a creative person, who loved gardening, her flowers, and crocheting, which she was still doing until the end of her life, by making blankets for her newly born great-great grandbabies.

She is survived by her loving family: daughter, Marie Cole of Rochester, NY; daughter-in-law, Lois Thorp of Buckeye Lake; grandchildren, Larry (Joyce)


Thorp of Newark, Glenda (Bill) Dennis of Newark, Steve (Kathy) Thorp of Heath, Teresa Lindberg of McKinney, Tx., Randy Thorp of Newark, Cynthia (Don) Talada of Virginia, Cheryl (Larry) Wolkonowski of Phelps, NY and Carolyn Huchzermeier of Brighton, NY; her 20 greatgrandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, William M Thorp and James Litteral; her son, Porter Thorp; her three brothers and five sisters; and two grandchildren.
